RETZER
RETZER NATURE CENTER

Nestled within the pine forest of Waukesha's Retzer Nature Center, this natural playscape features a woodland balance course and vertical cedar post climber.
A collaboration between WCP and GRG was established where GRG was subcontracted to design and install two climbing features for the space along with a 3D model of the master plan for promoting the new space while WCP would provide various materials (ash, cedar, mulch) and labor to bring the vision to completion.
Waukesha County Parks developed a master plan for an interactive outdoor educational space at Retzer Nature Center, known as the Discovery Trail. GRG Playscapes was brought in for our expertise in designing and building natural play features, collaborating closely with the County to bring key elements of the plan to life.
GRG Playscapes designed and installed a nature-based climbing and balance course that weaves through a mature pine grove at Retzer Nature Center. The installation includes a Forest Climber—vertical cedar posts with handholds—crafted to meet ASTM, CPSC, and IPEMA safety standards while blending seamlessly into the woodland setting.
