In 2020, Red Caboose moved to a new site, creating the opportunity for a custom building and nature-based play space focused on accessibility, climbing, and open-ended play. Saiki Design brought in GRG Playscapes to collaborate to bring the client’s vision to life.
Through a collaborative design process, GRG Playscapes helped bring the client’s vision to life—integrating Village Play and Adventure Play elements. The space is anchored by a custom treehouse climber set atop a poured-in-place, ADA-accessible slope, with GRG crafting custom-designed products that aligned with the client’s goals and play priorities
Additional features included wheelchair-accessible playhouses and a water play area with a hand pump and river rock runnel. The space was rounded out with peaceful nooks for gathering or quiet moments, including a Black Locust pergola with built-in seating and a cozy hanging pod swing.
