Mike is Greener Roofs and Garden’s resident counselor, farmer and natural play enthusiast. Earning a both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Marquette University he is also one of the most educated team members. His studies in communication and clinical mental health counseling drew him to positions in local schools. His experience working with youth has given him the opportunity to experience first hand how natural outdoor play will benefit a person’s mental health.
Mike’s hobbies and passions are what drew him to GRG. He has been a woodworker for ten years, but this is his first professional job utilizing those skills. In the spring, summer and fall he spends most of his free time helping out at the family’s farm in Illinois or in his gardens. He also enjoys remodeling homes and working in his woodshop. He is passionate about sustainability, natural play, and outdoor education. In an increasingly technological society Mike wants to help people enjoy nature by spending time outside.
Diplomatic by nature, Mike is a great problem solver and strong fit for the team. He works on site to ensure all projects are running smoothly as well as demonstrating his diligent work ethic. His open and honest communication skills are helping everyone on the team take it to the next level. We are also hopeful that as Mike grows with GRG he will be a key contributor to the education portion of our website.
One last fact about Mike: don’t be fooled by his appetite for home-grown food and life on the farm - he could never live without ice cream.
